The “dispersal” system was supposed to spread asylum seekers across the country. It has not. The Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract gives three prime providers the job. They place people where housing is cheap and available. That means the same deprived councils, over and over.

The councils at the top of this table are also the councils with the highest deprivation, the highest crime rates, the fastest demographic change, and the most stretched public services. The pressure compounds.
